The Importance of Timely Pool Equipment Repair
A strange noise from your pump or a small drip from your filter can quickly escalate into a catastrophic failure. H...

Welcome to pool ownership in the Antelope Valley.
If you live in Palmdale, Quartz Hill, or West Lancaster, you know the afternoon winds are practically a daily occurrence. But what you might not realize is just how aggressively those winds are attacking your pool's chemistry.
The Invisible Enemy: Phosphates & Dust
When the wind howls at 30mph across the desert, it picks up massive amounts of fine dust, agricultural runoff, and organic debris.
This dirt is loaded with phosphates—which is essentially a superfood for algae. When this phosphate-rich dust blows into your pool, the algae spores (also blown in by the wind) begin to feast. Your chlorine goes into overdrive trying to kill the blooming algae, completely depleting your sanitizer levels in a matter of hours.
Wind-Driven Evaporation
The wind also acts like a giant blow dryer across the surface of your pool. This rapid evaporation not only drops your water line (often mistaken for a leak, though we do offer expert leak detection in Palmdale), but it also concentrates the calcium and minerals left behind, leading to nasty scale on your pool tile.
How to Fight Back
- Aggressive Skimming: You must empty your skimmer baskets daily during wind events so your filter doesn't choke.
- Phosphate Removers: Regularly treating the water with a commercial phosphate remover starves the algae before it can bloom.
- Hire a Professional: Balancing chemistry in a wind-swept desert environment is incredibly difficult for the average homeowner.
